2025-28 What Is Agent-to-Agent Protocol

The Agent-to-Agent Protocol (A2A) is an emerging open standard developed by Google that is designed to enable autonomous AI agents to discover, communicate with, and delegate tasks to other agents through standardized message exchange and capability broadcasting. This Research Note examines A2A's technical architecture and assesses its readiness for enterprise deployment given current limitations around performance, security, and governance.
